Client: Sunêlia-Interlude campsite
City: Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré (France)

Brief: create a playground suitable for children of all ages and encourage interaction between younger and older children.

Proludic designed a completely bespoke playground for the Sunêlia campsite on the Ile de Ré (France). It is inspired by the region’s iconic Fort Bayard.

75 children between the ages of 3 and 12 can have fun on this multi-play unit measuring some 18 metres long and 5.20 metres wide. The structure offers over 20 play activities across three levels, including a climbing wall, a curved climbing net, balance bars, a tube slide, a zip line, a look-out post and tactile play features.

The personalised finish, including stones, nets and other features, is reminiscent of the legendary Fort Boyard and was created using the Grafic Games technique developed by Proludic. The structure also comprises snakes, spiders, anchors and a prisoner’s cage.

The play unit brings together children and adults alike, since the entertainment team at the Sunêlia campsite uses it during the holiday season to organise family competitions with puzzles to be solved on the fort, followed by an orienteering trail across the campsite.

This play area is in keeping with Sunêlia’s search for ways to entertain children of all ages. The co-existence of younger and older children in Fort Sunny’s design is interesting. Interaction is positive, since you can see older children helping out the younger ones.
