As part of its seafront redevelopment policy, the Town of Banyuls-sur-Mer has renovated its existing playground to turn it into a true place for living and social interaction. This initiative is part of a broader effort to beautify the town, expand leisure facilities for families, and strengthen its tourist appeal.
To meet these objectives, Proludic designed a layout in perfect harmony with the coastal environment: a sustainable natural wooden playground with a maritime theme, respectful of both the landscape and the materials already present along the seafront. The project was developed in close collaboration with the town’s Director of Technical Services and elected officials, in order to deliver a project that meets local needs and is consistent with the area’s identity.
Covering an area of 400 m², the playground features three playful structures made of sustainable natural wood:
- A submarine where children dive into a maritime world of imagination and develop their motor skills through climbing, balancing, handling, and sliding activities.
- A majestic lighthouse, a true symbol of the coastline, allowing the most adventurous to climb, observe, and slide back down via a long tubular slide.
- A double swing.
In addition to these facilities, a free-access table football game encourages social interaction and intergenerational play.
The space has been enhanced with landscaped plant beds that strengthen its integration into the surroundings while bringing freshness and greenery to the site.
Entirely made of sustainable natural wood, this development reflects the municipality’s commitment to harmonizing with and enhancing the aesthetic of the seafront.
