Town: Peymeinade (France)
Location: Peygros area

To meet the needs of its growing family population, the town of Peymeinade (06 region of France – Alpes Maritimes) has launched various projects to develop facilities for children. One of these is the play area in Peygros, with a project designed to revitalise this under-used space to create a pleasant and sociable place that can be enjoyed by all generations.

The town wanted to theme the play area on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s story of “The Little Prince”, in reference to the nearby school named after the author. The custom surfacing and all structures reflect themes from the book: the stars, the sky, the Little Prince’s planet, the rose, the desert, the boa constrictor that eats the elephant…

The play area is divided into two separate spaces: one for children from 2 to 8 years of age and the other for children from 6 to 14 years of age.

An area for children from 2 to 8 years of age

The first play zone takes young children on a journey. Between the earth and the sky, they share adventures in a magical universe. All the play equipment installed and selected is inspired by famous characters and other elements from The Little Prince:

  • The elephant: this themed play structure from our Adventure range offers a wide range of activities for children from 2 years of age: stepping, climbing, sliding, manipulating, as well as make-believe and imagination… The other side of the play equipment shows a Baobab tree, in reference to the trees mentioned by the Little Prince in his discussions with the author.
  • The star: planets and stars feature prominently in the world of The Little Prince, representing symbols of desire. Like the businessman on his planet, who counts the millions of stars one by one, children jump from planet to planet, swinging and swaying.
  • The fox: this springer game has been specially designed for the play area to help children identify more with this character and the meaning of human relationships and friendship.
  • The snake: the snake is one of the main characters in the story of The Little Prince. For maximum impact, custom graphics have been created using Grafic Games.
  • The aeroplane: part of our themed Adventure range, it allows young children to imagine themselves at the controls of St Exupéry’s plane travelling to meet the Little Prince..
  • The “Flowers” play panel: children need to find the path to their very own rose… just like the Little Prince has to find his way to the only rose on his planet to protect it… because he is responsible for it.
  • Musical Flowers: finally, no discussion of The Little Prince would be complete without a mention of the famous Rose, a symbol of love, beauty and passing time. In the play area, the Rose is represented by the Musical Flowers: 3 flowers, each with its own unique sound.

An area for older children (6-14 years of age)

The central element of the second zone is a multiplay equipment from our Ixo range (J2586-M). It offers a wide variety of fun activities: components for climbing, sliding, hanging, scaling…: elements of climbing, sliding, suspension… It is intended for a growing audience of children naturally seeking to evolve in height thanks to the planet-shaped buoys, the arch to suspend themselves in the sky among the stars or at the climbing wall like the wall on which the Little Prince sits when he interacts with the snake. They can return to Earth using the Speed Glide in the form of a ramp or the sliding mast.

Other play equipment is arranged around this structure:

  • The Rodeoboard: recommended for teenagers, this activity relies above all on technique to initiate, maintain and control the movement. Once the movement is underway, rotation effects are added to the swinging sensations. This unique play structure, with a round planet-like shape, helps older children to work on their balance and synchronise their movements…

Families and children in Peymeinade can now enjoy a special space designed for play, development, imagination, dreaming and sharing!
