Town: Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques – France)
Location: Beaumont Park

As part of the rehabilitation of Beaumont Park, the central park that is a symbol of the town of Pau, the municipality decided to create a spectacular, prestigious playground, visible from afar and a reference point in the city centre, while maintaining an character of assured elegance, in keeping with the prestige bestowed upon the Beaumont Park during the Belle Epoque.

Proludic won the tender for this 200 m² project.

Of the 7 offers we received, Proludic’s proposal quickly won unanimous approval. Everything was there, originality, attractiveness, understanding of our needs, environmental constraints of the park…

A playground built around three spaces

The playground has been built around three distinct spaces, visually delimited by their highly-coloured surfaces, with flat and raised profiles (coloured domes, anthill, tunnel, etc.) to add a fun aspect to the play area.

A space for toddlers (1 year and up)

This space, intended for children from 6 months and is designed around a multifunctional structure from the Tiboo range, offering a succession of early learning and motor skills elements:  a slide 60 cm from the ground to discover the joys of sliding, a climbing ramp, a tunnel and play panels. Customised using the Grafic Games technique for better integration into the park’s environment, the perforated fencing is decorated with stone walls, leaves and flowers in green and purple colours which echo those of the structure’s roofs and panels.

A space for children from 3 years old

The second space, intended for children aged 3 and over, is built around a ‘tree house’ structure comprising a 5.40-m tower, 5 platforms, a 4-m-high spiral slide, a kayak slide and a Speed Slide to provide a new slide experience… Numerous play panels, climbing elements and a suspended bridge complete this play structure.

A space for all

The third space is equipped with swings for all ages and abilities: with seats with hoops for babies, classic seats as well as large wrap-around pods accessible to children with disabilities. These pods provide the clear space and a height suitable for easy cross-over from a wheelchair. Their large support surfaces make them suitable for children with limited muscle tone.

The involvement of the Proludic teams has been unwavering throughout the project. Thanks to the rigorous monitoring of the site and the expertise of the local technical partner, the playground was completed in less than 3 months
