The various member countries of the CEN (European Committee for Standardization) have set May 2009 as the date of definitive cancellation of the current standards.
Both standards will coexist until that date. This overlap gives the manufacturers time to bring their products into conformity.
It is important to point out that the new provisions will not be retrospective under any circumstances.
